For Pain, Aging, & Vitality:

Pain, Performance, and Harmonious Movement

It is reported that 80% of us experience back pain during our lifetime. Many also experience neck and shoulder pain, and as the years go by, joint pain in the hips, knees, hands, and wrists. Much of this pain is caused by poor posture and poor movement habits formed by faulty learning, usually beginning in childhood.

Even pain that results from accident or illness may reflect movement habits learned in childhood, and can be resolved as we learn new patterns of movement, of thinking and of feeling.

The Anat Baniel Method helps us reawaken to our natural learning process, and to recognize and develop the QUALITY of our movement. When we move harmoniously, the forces generated by our muscles create easy, safe movement rather than friction and injury, and enhance healing and health. When the movement is disorganized, some of that force actually destroys body tissue and leads to injury and pain. Given a little help, our brain discovers the least painful ways to move, if we simply give it the opportunity.

With the Anat Baniel Method we learn how to move harmoniously. This can rapidly diminish our pain, and prevent future pain. It allows us our peak performance. We also gain the emotional, mental and spiritual benefits that come with our new harmonious movement.

Aging and Vitality

For many of us, aging is a gradual process in which small, almost unnoticeable changes occur over months and years. Then one day we notice that our aches and pains don't go away anymore. We look in the mirror and see and feel ourselves "grown old." But there is a way to retain and regain our vitality. We must recognize the importance of endless learning and understand that the brain must continue to grow and evolve as it did when we were children.

The Anat Baniel Method provides the adult brain with that essential opportunity to learn and grow. Our brain is organized through movement, and it is occupied mostly with movement during waking hours. In this sense movement is the langauge of the brain, thus movement is a great way to communicate with the brain. The Anat Baniel Method uses movement as the main tool for new learning, achieving vitality, and reversing the usual signs of aging.

Lessons for the Essentials of Vitality

Through her extensive work with children, Anat Baniel identified the qualities healthy children possess that adults often have forgotten. These qualities

and are the source of tremendous energy and vitality. These same "Essentials for Vitality" are found in healthy, youthful adults, and include: Ongoing experimentation with new ideas, activities, and beliefs; constant variation in ways of moving and doing; and allowing the full flow and intensity of feelings.

Each of us can readily recognize and regain these (and many other) essential characteristics of youthfulness, thereby shifting our energy level, enthusiasm, and well-being. In our private movement Lessons together, I will help guide you through your limiting habits, fears, and rigidity. You will begin to experience and reclaim your harmonious, variable, expressive, and youthful self.
